Warriors of Light

The Cardia Islands

Having just left Gaia, our heroes were traveling West. They came upon a group of islands. On the islands there were large holes in the ground. The group decided to investigate. They set down on the second island. They traveled to the hole which was huge, and in they went. The cave was huge it contained two rooms they went into the closet one. Inside there was three chest and a Dragon. Which did scare them for the color was red. Where they come for a red Dragon was evil. Or not to be mess with. “Yes, come in these chests are for you.” they went to the chests and open them, the chest contents were as follows 1)2,750 gil 2)2,000 gil 3)1,455 gil. They then proceeded to the second room. When they looked in side, there was another dragonthis one did not speak until they spoke to him. He talked about proving one self of courage beofre seeking the king. There was also four more chests which made the black mage happy. I wonder does he have ant dwarf blood in him. Well the chest contents were as follows 1)X-potion 2)9,500 gil 3)2,750 gil $)1,520 gil. From here they went back to the ship and went to the first island. At least now they new what the holes in the ground was. They entered the cave and fuond a long corridor. At the end of the passageway they saw stairs leading down. Might as well, they proceeded onward. they ended up inwhat appeared to be a room with a door. They opened the door and looked in. they saw an extremely long room. Slightly pass the mid point there were statues of dragons. Seated on the thrown was Bahamut. The group was going to move foward when they were stopped by the guards. They were then asked if they have proof of there courage. They of course did not so the guards told them to go to the citadel and get the proof of there courage.

In the days when the rot began and the light of the crystals dimmed, the Dragonfolk on the peninsula east of the CardiIslands. The Castle Of Ordeal Was then Called Bahamut’s Keep, but a legion of fearsome monsters swept down upon the castle from the North, and such were their numbers that Bahamut and his people had to flee.Taking refuge in the islands west of their ancestral home, the Dragons found safty, but they began to know fear.Seeing this, King Bahamut looked for a way to instill curage in his people- a courage that would be neededif the new forces in the world were to be held at bay. And so he devised the Trial of Courage. Bahamut was the first to go. Alone he traveled to the castle that oncewas his home. Alone he entered the gate and, fighting loathsome creatures at every step, made his way to the Thrown Room high on the third floor. There he hid a token in a treasure chest, then fought his way back to the islands. In the days and years that followed, any dragon or man who sought Bahamut’s support was required to seek proof of his courage in the castle. Many followed in the Dragon King’s footsteps, but none returned with the token. Like most things the name changed as well over time. It is now called the Citadel of Trials.

Gaia

Here nested between mountain ranges is the town Gaia. Well protected from the out side world. Upon entering the heroes are greeted to Gaia. They are stared at as they walk through the village. They are informed that they are the first visitors in quite some time. They also learned that the village was also called the Eye of the Hawk. A town to the south was called the Wing of The Hawk. They enter the spell shop level seven to see what they might be able to buy. For the white mage cure 4(curaja) and diaja, but only if he were a white wizard. For in the black magic shop, they found Blizzaga and Break. Blizzaga could be bought buy a black mage, red wizard and black wizard. What they did I don’t remember but, I’ll find out if anyone is interested. Next along the path is the Inn followed by the weapon and armor shop. A person near the Inn mention the village to the South in passing saying that she can’t understand a word they say. In the weapon shop only one weapon. The cat claws. These are for a Knight, Red Wizard, Ninja, Black Wizard. So they could not use them. The armor shop held Protect ring and Ruby armlet. The Protect ring helps the person wearing it by upping there saving throw vs. death by twenty. Not bad 16,000 gil is it. The Ruby armlet is a high protection in armor class for those that use it. And no it does not help with saving throws. A girl hanging out by the armor shop swears that she saw a light streak across the sky. Following the path around to behind the front shops they discover magic shops of level 8. In these they could buy for the white wizard Dispel, Holy, and Nulall. For the black wizard Kill, Stop, and Warp. They then went back to the path and followed it further to the item shop, where they bought some Ether and Hi-Potion. At the item shop someone told them about a person who was studying the Lufian language. They followed the path to the end. It lead them to the temple. Over here they sign in the guess book. Hanging out at the temple was a snot nose brat. Pardon my language. He said that bhe was the one who caught the farie. So seeing as he caught it he could do what he wanted with it. This angered the monk. Grabbing the kid he hoisted him up into the air and threaten his life. The kid told him that he sold it to a caravan. When they came out I think it was the red mage that spotted the path to the left. Unlike the path that they previously followed this one did not have a stone path, it was also ,less traveled. After seeing the pond they headed back toward the ship.

Where to? How about Gaia!

Within minutes they are at there freely given pirates ship. They tell them to heads towards Elfheim and stay there. Now they are traveling the world in the open skies what a feeling they wander the ship and find the room with a do not enter sign on it they open the door and are pushed out by Layla. She exclaims, “Can’t you read?” while pointing to the sign. They say that this is there ship. What they did not notice, was the sign above it saying DANGER ENGINE ROOM EMPLOYEES PERSONEL ONLY. The glance through the door shows them advance machinery. Seeing that they know to keep out. Getting bored now, they go see Cid who is piloting the ship. When they enter the control room they see that it is completely different. And that once again it is slightly larger on the inside than the outside. Coming out of four boxes scattered throughout the room, is music better than any that they ever heard. This particular one is about traveling fast. They ask him where they should go. While listening to the music he sugest that they go to Gaia. for it is only accesible by airship plus about now they are about to have a festivel celebrating the autumn and the harvest. They aggreed. With in a few hours they are there.

Now outside the ice cave, our heroes travel back to there ship. On there way back to the ship they encountered some white crocodiles, hydra, and ochu. Now back on ship they set there course back towards Crescent Lake. After two day they are there to replenish there supplies. They then proceed on. Back at the ship they sail South. They anchor at the mouth of the river. They make there way into the desert, but have no idea of where to look. While stumbling around they run into some giant scorpions, and a few sand worms. After they defeat the last sand worm they start looking again, when a call comes over to them saying “Over here!”. They follow the sound and find Cid just over a dune. Glad to see there friend they exchange pleasantries and ask why he is here. He explains that he is there pilot. But they haven’t found the ship yet they explain. He tells them to hold up the levistone. They do so and the ground begins to shake and split. A vast cavern is exposed and they see big ship like vessel coming towards them out of the ground. When the ship is finally leveled with them the ground stops shaking. Cid immediately goes aboard. he heads straight towards the engine room. he takes a look inside and tells them that he can have it fix in about a day or so. He says that he gets the pilot room. This upsets one of the followers. He asks why in a very demanding voice. Cid then leads them to the steering quarters and shows them a plague. On the plague it said property of Cid. That seems to shut up the follower. After a day and a half the ship is ready. The question now is where to?

Ice Cave part 4

After traveling up the stairs, our heroes find themselves in a small room. there is a door to the North. They go through it after checking for traps. They look around the corner to see a way out. They proceed to head towards the door, when the black mage spots a chest out of the corner of his eye. It’s like he has a treasure detector built in. They go over and check for traps. There is none. They open it to find ether. Once they got that and who knows what else, they go through the door. They find themselves in a huge cavern. To the East there is a gap in the wall that they can go through. But the Red Mage says that they should finish this one first.the only place to go is South. So they went South, and went around the corner to see a room to there immediate right and that the passageway ends just a little further past. They check out the door and open it, but don’t go inside. Smart move! For there is a trap. They set themselves up and trigger it. They are summoned to another room where they face ice giants. They make quick work with some injuries. Now to check out the other cavern. Just before they pass through the gap they are attacked by a mixture of undead. Some are blood bones, while others are specters. There is a few wights and ghast and one mummy. With some impressive maneuvering they defeat them. They go to the right this time for a change of pace and find a room. They check out the door and then proceed in. It is a very long room with three chest at the end of it. Going forward carefully, gently probing the ground for a trap they do find one. They go around it and open the chests. Inside the first is 9,500 gil, the second a sleeping bag, and the third an ice shield. They now go to the trap and spring it. It is a pit trap. They find themselves on that middle piece that they could not get to before. they spot the stone on the a pedestal. The monk goes forward to try and get it forgetting to check for traps and springs it. He summons a Evil Eye. An Evil Eye is a cousin of the Beholders. Instead of developing multiple eye stalks, they have one big eye and a few tendrils. They take it out quickly for it is not the healthiest of the “eye” family. They take the levistone and go through the pitfalls. They end up back on the bottom floor. But now they know which way to go. So they make it back up the stairs out of the rooms and into the second cavern. This time they go left and see a way out.

Ice Cave Part 3

Being low on spells they decided to spend the night in here to heal up and memorize some spells. The night goes uneventful. So our heroes traveled west, after thirty feet or so they hit what is called a wall of frost. They are able to move through it only because of the aid of Cid. For he gave them boots which can endure heat as well as cold with out these boots they would have died. They still took damage from the intense cold however. They soon round a corner and find a room at the end of it. There is no door. When they look in they see two chests. Knowing full well what it means to rush in, they look for traps at a safe distance. Two or three of them spotted runes on the ground surrounding the chest that is directly in front. The monk was then hit with a brilliant idea. Run and jump over the trap and open the chest from above. So the other cleared a path for him. He went back to the corner of the passageway and ran full tilt at the room once at the doorway he jumped. Now I know what you are thinking and yes he did jump over the trap. but in failing to look at the doorway it self they didn’t realize that the doorway itself along with the passage way was also part of the trap. For when the Monk hit the doorway he is hit with a spell of acceleration. He makes his jump clears the trap, but is going to fast. So he hits the wall and then slumps to the ground activating the trap and disappears. The rest of the heroes not wanting to be caught unawares then cast protection on themselves and step onto the trap. They are then in a huge room facing two white dragons. One of our heroes immediately fails his will saving throws, and move to a corner of the room. It is a struggle to beat the two white dragons but they do being short two people. They then open the chest while one remains on the trigger of the trap this way they don’t set it off again. In the chests were Ice Armor and Mythril Gloves. Our heroes then proceed to the southern part of the cavern. Traveling through more walls of frosts and having to do a little back tracking. Making it to the southern most room. In the room is six chests. and upon trying to get the middle chest of the back row, they are summoned again to face a white dragon. They make quick work of this one for there is only one of him. Each of the chest had some Gil in it: 1)7,900 2)5,454 3)180 4)9,900 5)5,000 6)12,350. They might have held more but they are refusing to tell me. Me! The one who gave them the boots that saved all there lives. What a bunch of ingrates! Well anyways they make it to the stairs leading up to the first floor.

Ice Cave part 2

One of the followers of the warriors tried to see where the Monk went and fell through another pit. The Black Mage of the party decided to poke around with a arrow and find out if there are any more pit falls instead of going to help his friend. The monk and the follower ended up in a small room. When they look up they can see where they fell through.but it is to high for them to get to.The monk opens the door to peek out and see what is there. What he sees is that he is in a huge cavern. Reluctant to explore without his comrades the monk stays in the room. The other heroes have marked where the pits are and open the chests. The chest on the left contain a flame sword, the other a set of clothes. Now the Black Mage as I understand it was really upset about finding only a set of clothes in the second chest. What he fail to see is that it was a joke for the person or people that place the clothes there. The follower that was downstairs with the Monk, got sick and tired of waiting for the others to show up so he cast a spell that made him ethereal and decided to follow the path that they came through. He found out that there were 15 of those pit falls that eventually led to one that led to the room. Going back up to the first floor with the time remaining he check out that the room the heroes first saw but could not get to. it had three chests. Then realizing that time was running out on the spell he traveled through the floor where he notice on his way down that there was another pit fall leading to the center of the others. When he got back the rest of the group was in that small room. From what he gathered from the conversation that he heard upon getting back was that, each of the rest of the party had taken a different pit fall and a few of them landed on each other. After they left the room they could go south east or west. They chose west because like the Black mage said they always pick left.

The Ice Cave

Now That are heroes are rested they enter the cave. When they enter the cave, they notice a sudden drop in temperature. For what they fail to ask was why was it called the Ice Cave. For you people who are reading about there adventure I’ll tell you. It is that way because the ice that is left inside is left over fromn the last ice age. They couldc’t see very well till someone used the cantrip Light. The cavern was 35’ in width. As they travel to the end of the corridor, they had encounters with some winter wolves. After they rounded a corner the heroes spotted stairs going down, but the passage still on, just further South.they decided to check the corridor first. They reach the end and are blocked by ice columns.so they go back to the stairs and head down. On the second level there way of whitch way to go is split. They can either go West or South. They chose South, dispite the black mage protest that they should go West because they always choose left. On the way to the second set of stairs, our warriors met up with some cockatrics and mindflayers. They made short work of them. Amazingly none of them got turn into stone, Though I think taat they did find a golden needle. The stairs go a lttle further down then normal, with a small landing to seperate them. They now spot something that could be there first room here. as they rounded the corner they are attacked by spectors. Though they scared a few away the rest they defeated. The warriors then proceeded onward. They spotted a door, check it out.(Boy they don’t trust anyone do they?) They open the door and found two chests, and a stone. Could this be the levistone that they are lokking for? Now having experiance, they use detect magic to see if the chests have magic on them or not. The chest themselves did not, but the chest on the left had contents that were magical. The monk is the one who is chosen or is it that the others stepped back well whatever. The monk then proceed to the chest and fell through the floor. Only a few took notice. The floor where the monk fell through sealed itself back up.

The Search for the Levistone

Now that our heroes are outside the volcano, they then proceed back to the Crescent Lake town. Though they encountered enemies on the way there, they did not encounter any on the way back. Once there they entered the town and rested. They then proceeded to the temple to sign in. If you weren’t paying attention before, they do this because the Gods have decreed that they are to finish this quest that they are on. By signing in at they temple it saves there progress in in the temple’s archives just with there signature. When they asked the sages about the ice cavern that they heard rumors about, they were answered that they had to take there ship to the next dock up.and travel up river from there. So they headed back to there ship. Battling a few ogres chieftains, trolls, minotaurs, and hill gigas(giants). So they did as they were told. They headed up a little further on there ship and found a gulf. In tghe gulf was a dock. They could see from the dock that there was a river to the west. They proceeded on foot to the river took out there canoes and started headed for the ice cave. There are many twists, turns, and dead ends so after one dead end, and one turn around they cast the spell for the world map. The made it to a small inlet where they guess a cave would be for the map did not show it. However, when they got there it was evening and they were tired from the rowing. While setting up camp the monk notice that there was a cave to the North. The mage suggested that they go in there in the morning when there are well rested.
