Warriors of Light

The Marsh Cave Part 2

So our heroes traveled back to there where they entered the Marsh Cave. Time to go the other way. A little further on it splits again. Once again our valiant heroes go left. They head to the end where they encountered a giant grey ooze. With a few buns here and there they press on checking the last passageway. They find a room. Listen, check for traps. Nothing.Open the door to find a stairs going down. They proceed down into a room that is three time longer than the one that they just left, With three doors leading the way out. They head towards the furthest one. And enter a cavern that is twice as big as the one down the other stair way. So they head left and come across a room.they check the normal and take a look inside. Nothing in there. They head south and come across a barrier of natural columns.they can get glimpses through the cracks to see a room. So they follow it down and spot two rooms on there right. Still keeping to their plan they look around the edge of the row of columns and see a door further in. However one of there party speaks up to say that they should check out the other rooms before checking out this one. While the others head towards the rooms this guy heads towards the door. He listens, nothing. Opens the door, enters the room, nothing inside except another door. So he goes through and finds stairs and goes down them leaving his party behind them for he is a barbarian and knows what is best for the party. When he at the bottom of the stairs he is amazed at how vast the cavern is for it is as big as two city blocks. Well might as well search. He listens at each door to note which one has someone inside for there are a lot of rooms. Back at the main party they head towards the first door on the right. Check everything and here scuffling. Prepare themselves and enter. They take care of the skeletons and zombies that were there. Open the chest and nothing. “Wait, what is that on the side?” asked the monk. “Its some type of runes. I’ll see if I can translate it.” said the wizard, “I can’t make that much sense but it appears to be a spell. The word that I can make out is duplicate.” “where the barbarian?” asked the monk, he wasn’t with us in the fight.” Oh well. They check the next room dispatching the zombies and the shadows. One chest this time they check to see if it has runes on it. It does the same as the last one. When they open it they find it too is empty. They walk around another set of columns to the last room on this floor. They check it. They don’t hear anything.they go in and attack the shadows that are there.Another chest, different design, but the same rune is there. Open and it to was empty. “Oh well. Let’s go find that stupid barbarian.” said the fighter.

So they went down into the cave. When they reach the bottom of the entrance way it seemed that they were in a cave like corridor. “Which way do we go?” one of them asked. The reply by the wizard was ” Well that was a stupid question. We go left, that’s the way we always go.” So they went left. They followed the passageway through twist and turns and it lead them to some stairs going down. They went down ending in a large cavern. A few of the warriors can see further than others, so one spotted a door. They made their way there. Listen, check for traps. Nothing They went inside and saw a treasure chest. They check for traps again. Nothing. Open it up a dagger. So they exited the room and went right. they soon found another door. Listen, check for traps. Nothing. Open up,and there’s another chest. Same normal thing, check for traps. Nothing. They open up and find 680 gil (gil being the currency here). They now head towards the south end of the cavern. Another room. Listen, check for traps. No traps, but there is scuffling. so they enter to find a zombie, skeletons and a red bone. Hardly a match for the white mage. There are two chest this time. Check for traps. Nope. Open the first chest Broadsword. Was that a trick of the light or did the monk just notice something. Next chest, 620 gil. No trick of light on this one, so he must be imaging it. “Let’s head back up.”one of them said.

The Marsh

Our heroes travel down to the marsh cave, hugging the coast, not wanting to get attack that much. For they only attacks that occur are from these green wolfs, an occasional ogre and such. But now they reach the marsh. Not wanting to go in at night, they rested and kept watch. Which is good, for some time during the evening they were attack by zombies. Still they had a white mage with them so everything is well. They set off the next morning after breaking camp. Having been told that the marsh cave was south why not start at the bottom and work their way up. as luck would have it that was where it was. But getting there was not all it was made up to be. For they had to deal with the zombies the previous night and some crawlers and green slime during the day heading down. Still now that they found it, they have to go in , get the crown and come out in one piece.

Except this one room they found while search the ruins. They look in and they see that the room is well maintained as it can be and on a throne sits an old elf. The old elf was sleeping, but woke when they came in. He pleaded for his life until they convinced the old elf that they were not there to harm him. He then proceeded to tell them that Astos has taken his crown and placed it somewhere in the marsh cave, which is located to the south. During her wait she sees a shadow moving and decides to follow it. Only to discover that she was tricked by a special ops, then told to catch up to her friends. Others of the group are looking for weapons as well as info. One of them can’t find any elf that has a bow. Puzzled he ask why none of them have a bow. He is told that the art of bow making and use was lost to them many years ago. So he goes to the forest, skirts the edge, to find a suitable sapling and goes to cut it. When a druid walks out of nowhere and perceives to ask him what he is doing to his forest in a towering temper. The person responds by saying she was only trying to make a bow for the elves because they forgot how. “Next time ask.” was the response. Then the druid left, after replacing the sapling. He proceeded back and with quick work made a suitable bow with a couple of arrows. While showing them how to make this a little boy was watching who had never seen the like, when demonstrated on its use. He gave the bow to those watching for them to use. He said that he will make a smaller one for the boy to use.

The Dark Elf

Elfheim resisted the growing darkness better than most of the world, in part due to their beloved Prince. His honesty, courage and wisdom were renown throughout Elfheim, and in kingdoms as far as Coneria. But there was one elf, named Astos, a cousin of the prince, who lived further north and west in a contry that fell under the spreading shadow. Over the years his castle fell into ruins and creatures of darkness made it their abode. As the shadows deepened on his land, Astos also fell under the gloomy spell. He began to brood and soon jealousy crept into his heart – jealousy over the good fortune of his cousin. With his evil band Astos marched on the castle of Elf, defeated the elfish army and cast a sleeping spell upon the good prince. In this way the shadow reach even into the heart of Elfheim. On his journey, Astos came upon an old woman who peer at him through a lens of crystal. “Wicked creature!” she shrieked, making gestures in the air as if to ward of evil spirits. Ignoring her curses, the dark elf stole the crystal and left her blind in the wilderness.

Elfheim, here we come!

Where to now? Why to Elfheim of course. It took a few days. First they stopped at Coneria to refresh there supplies and a nice and cheap stay at the inn. Now to Elfheim which is located almost directly south. Now while traveling at sea they were attacked by the Sahagins and Big Eyes. The pirates themselves took care of the Big Eyes for they are easy to deal with. But not the Sahagins let the new owners deal with them. They reach a small port, leave the ship there and head toward Elfheim. “Big surprise its in the middle of a forest. Though why is it so easy to see?” ask the wizard. “Maybe they are on good terms with the other races. Or they have not yet learned to mistrust the others yet.” replied the monk. At which a few of the companions chuckled. When entering they are greeted warmly, but they’re is concern on their faces. When asked it appears that the elf prince has been put under a spell and nothing can wake him.

Now the pirates were hanging outside a tavern. Figures. When our heroes attacked and made short work of them. Well that didn’t take to long. Til the boss of the pirates came out saw what happened and sicked the rest of the crew that were in the bar on them. This infuriated the wizard. How dare he let his comrades do his work for him. Before the wizard could get into striking distance of his spell. The leader of the pirates gave up. WHAT?? As it turn out Bikke the pirate was looking for a place to retire anyways. He found this place accommodating, for it was close to the sea. Mind you he was a little sore at losing the skirmish, but what the hey there sailors so they like a good fight. He tells them that as a reward for kicking his ass, and making him see the error of his way he will give them his ship. Great, now the fighter can see the dancer a little more frequently than he had planned. Bikke told them not to worry about piloting the ship, for he still had a little crew aboard and they will pilot it.

A group of them , the worst of the lot, were at the northwest corner of the city. Now they new where they were. So let’s go exploring first. this way we can upgrade our weapons before the fight said the martial artist.
